I can’t sleep, so I’m watching KBB’s review of the Mirage G4. Fun fact, the rear seat doesn’t fold.

Quick search shows that these big ass bars are in the way - probably for body rigidity!

Not too uncommon on sedans. My 2009 335i (!!!) didn’t have that option selected so the rear seats didn’t fold down. To be honest I never missed it. That said, I did own an A4 Avant through most of that time.

Evo VIII’s rear seat also doesn’t fold down.

I’m shocked when I see sedans where this is the case, but as CompactLuxuryFan notes, 60/40 split rear seats have apparently been optional on the 3-series well into modern times. I’m sure there are other offenders as well (I know we had this discussion on the Crown Vic, which puts a gas tank there, in order to make room for a rear foot well for the wagon’s trunk seating (despite the fact the last Panther platform wagon was made in 1991)

Probably (maybe?) increases torsional rigidity, so racecar win??
